Serving our world

Mission Abroad

Global Mission Partners

Global Mission Partners is a relief and development program partnered with Churches of Christ. We work with vulnerable people on three continents, helping them to break the cycle of poverty. We partner with communities across the world in education, health, safe water, and livelihood initiatives. We partner with indigenous civil-society organisations who are part of the communities that they serve, letting their aspirations drive our projects. Their projects are developed with, and implemented by, our partners around the world. Our vision is to see our partners resourced and equipped to pursue their own aspirations and be agents of change in their own communities.

Each year at our Christmas Day service we take up a special offering specifically for Global Mission Partners.

Destiny rescue

Destiny Rescue is dedicated to rescuing children from human trafficking and sexual exploitation. They provide kids rescued from sexual exploitation a safe, loving home to grow up in, medical care, counselling, schooling, vocational training and all daily needs required to be integrated back into society successfully. They also help protect vulnerable children from being trafficked. The kids are offered financial assistance, a good education, vocational training, and, in some instances, a place to live.

As a church family, we are proud to support this crucial ministry. The work of Destiny Rescue is growing rapidly across the world. More details about it, including opportunities to give, can be found at https://www.destinyrescue.org.au/.

Compassion

Living Hope Coffs Harbour passionately supports the mission of Compassion through ongoing prayer, financial giving, and letter writing. (Thanks goes to Norma N who writes on our behalf). As a Church, we currently sponsor three children, plus a number of our people individually sponsor children. Our kids Church program includes opportunities for our children to write to these sponsor children as well as learn about their culture, and raise funds for this awesome cause.

Operation Christmas Child

The Operation Christmas Child initiative by Samaritan’s Purse gathers gift-filled shoeboxes containing toys, school supplies, and personal care items. These boxes are then distributed to children in need worldwide, serving as a tangible expression of God’s love. For many recipients, these shoebox gifts mark the first present they’ve ever received.

Since its inception in 1993, Operation Christmas Child has become the world’s largest Christmas project, having gathered and delivered over 209 million shoebox gifts to children in 170 countries and territories. In 2023, the project aims to collect enough gifts to reach an additional 11 million children. This year also marks the 30th anniversary of Operation Christmas Child’s impactful ministry.
